If slide shows are not working
I am not sure why the slide shows have started having trouble. If you click on the button that says 'view all images' it will bring up all the pictures in a slide show.
Summer birthdays
This week we celebrated our 4 summer birthdays. Happy early birthday to Maggie, Myra, Kaysha and Jordan.
End of year fun
Shaving cream, bubbles, chalk & the sand table; sounds like a great time to us! Check out the fun we had with just 2 days left in kindergarten.
Proud to be an American
We had a great time at our summer celebration cookout. This week we learned about the national holidays Memorial Day and Independence Day. We also made edible sparklers and wrote letters to our troops.

Graduation Day!
I was so proud of everyone today. I can't believe we are in the homestretch of the year; where has the time gone?? Ms. Angie and I have LOVED being a part of your child's life. We will miss each and every child.
Mini Relay for Life
Each year Hand in Hand participates in our own mini relay. This year the theme was the 50's. We walked around the front circle while listening to some 50's music and reviewed what it means to donate. Our poster, for our class, was ‘A Cure for Cancer is Music to Our Ears.’
Lowe's
April and May have seen yet another change to our dramatic play area; it has been turned into Lowe's. The students have loved practicing their painting, planting and building skills.

Chehaw Park
Chehaw Park was so much fun. Thank you to all the moms who came along. Getting to see the animals, picnic and then play on the awesome playground all made for a fantastic day!
Egg-citing times
We were “egg-cited” about our egg hunt and party. Thank you so much to Kaytlyn and her mother for the festive cupcakes!
Earth Day
We spent this week talking about "being green." We talked about what we can do everyday to help the earth. We already practice recycling at school. What can you do at home??
Center Time Fun
Damarion, Jamiyah and Logan built their own puppet theater.
Kaytlyn and Maggie hone their future teaching skills!

Soil and rocks, what fun!
Who knew rocks and soil could be so interesting? Now we do! The students really enjoyed exploring and observing the characteristics of rocks and soil. We even sang a fun song called "Dirt You Made My Lunch" that taught us how dirt provides the nutrients for fruits, veggies and grains to grow. The students could not believe it when I told them I was going to make them eat dirt with rocks and worms in it, but once they discovered the ingredients to make the dirt were really pudding, Oreos, gummy worms and Whoppers they were very excited.

Friends with 4 legs
Before Spring Break we were lucky enough to have Mr. Jamie’s two chinchillas visit our classroom for the morning. The students loved petting them but even though they could have held them we didn’t have anyone who wanted to do that. Kaytlyn also brought some animals in for us to observe and hold. She brought in a hermit crab and small turtle. The children were more excited to hold the turtle than the chinchillas, who may have wanted to nibble on their fingers! We were able to compare and contrast the different animals by their size and texture.

Go fly a kite
As if Transportation Day wasn’t enough to make this day special, after our picnic lunch we flew our homemade kites. The children had a lot of fun and for the most part the kites flew pretty well.
Transportation Day
Transportation day is one of my favorite days. We had so much fun looking at, and climbing on, so many different forms of transportation (even more than are in the pictures)! Ms. Heather, Ms. Angie, and I all got to go up in the bucket truck and for some reason the class favorite was the very large, empty moving van! It was a beautiful day and the popsicle from Blue Bell was the perfect treat!
Full of hot air!
We made our own wind and experimented to see if just blowing on our hands made a stronger wind or if it was stronger when we blew with a straw. Then we tried to see if we could keep a piece of tissue paper in the air with our own wind. We then saw how the force of the wind, from a fan, could keep a balloon in the air. We also made a tornado tube so we could see the funnel shape of a tornado. We discussed how we can use our senses to explain the effects of wind, and how wind can be helpful or very dangerous.
St. Patrick's Day Fun
St. Patrick's Day was a lot of fun. We found shamrocks, got a visit from that tricky leprechaun, and ate bagels with green cream cheese! Even though we didn't find a pot of gold we still felt lucky to have such a fun day!

making butter
After our dairy trip we extended our lesson on dairy products by using heavy whipping cream and a WHOLE LOT of shaking. We then tried our butter on salted and unsalted crackers and decided we liked it best on the salted cracker.
