Da'marion's Birthday
We are now all officially 5. Da'marion turned 5 on August 16th. Everyone enjoyed celebrating with him.
Enrichment Friday
On August 13th all of the kindergarten classes participated in the first Enrichment Friday, of the school year. This occurs once a month and special interactive/hands on lessons are planned on each wing. The classes rotate around the school participating in 5 different math or science lessons, taught by a different teacher on each wing. This time the students were engaged in lessons about objects in the day and night sky, sequencing the days of the week, sorting objects by the material they are made from, counting sets and patterning. It was a very fun morning.
Oral Story Telling
Each student was given the opportunity to tell his/her own story, though we had just a few who were still too shy. Most of the students really enjoyed sharing, and I think would have liked to tell more than one. This activity was done as the first part of our Writer's Workshop, so that each student could discover they have lots of stories to tell, which will be helpful in a few weeks when they begin to draw and write their own stories. This activity also covered another language arts standard for speaking appropriately to adults and peers.

Photographer
Everyone in our class has a job. The jobs are typical jobs you would think about for a classroom line leader, door holder, etc. But this year, since I am doing this blog, I thought it would be fun to add the job of class photographer. This week's photographer was Andreaya. Here are some pictures from her point of view.
