Halloween/Fall Festival
Everyone looked so cute in their costumes. They enjoyed their morning rotating through each classroom on our hallway for our fall festival.
October Center Fun
Besides having a fire station inside our classroom, the students enjoyed the other areas of the room as well.
To the emergency!!
We were so fortunate that the Thomas Co. Fire Department let us borrow a REAL fire fighters uniform, helmet and boots, the students LOVED dressing up in all of it. We decided that fire fighters are some of the coolest community helpers we learned about!

Welcome Jaydin
Yesterday our class got a little bigger when Jaydin joined us.
We are glad he is part of our class now.
Community Helpers Fair
Yesterday we were fortunate to have Hudson's dad, Mike Rice, from Blue Bell, and several other community helpers come out to the school. Each class, on our wing, rotated around and we got to learn a little about what they do. We are a little bias, since he's Hudson's dad, but learning about Blue Bell was our favorite (plus we got to sample an ice cream sandwich).

more pumpkin fun
In addition to guessing the circumference of our pumpkins we put them in order from smallest to biggest. We also described their texture and observed their color. Who knew pumpkins could be so fun!
From pumpkin to jack-o-lantern
We had a great time comparing the weight of the pumpkin we carved to another large pumpkin. We used our sense to get information about it, from the outside, and then we carved it and got new information about the inside. We voted on the shape of the eyes and how many teeth it would have. The students loved scooping out the seeds, which we roasted and had for a snack. Thank you to everyone who sent in pumpkins and to Anne Martin, who let us carve her pumpkin.

Da'marion's pictures
This week Da'marion was our photographer. He was able to get a few pictures but then he must have run into technical difficulty because the rest of his pictures were blurry.
September Center Time
During center time the students are allowed to freely choose which center they want to go to in the room. Ms. Angie, Ms. Heather and I use this time to call small groups, or individual students, to participate in activities to help them practice and master the standards, particularly language arts and math. This month we counted energy beads, practiced fine motor skills by writing letters and words in shaving cream, and rolled dice to help practice short vowel sounds and number identification, just to name a few center time activities.
Worms!
To end our study on Living and Nonliving the students observed real worms, then compared them with gummy worms, then ate the gummy worms.
Is there a doctor in the house?
The month of September our dramatic play area was changed to a doctor's office. The students really enjoyed it, especially giving each other shots.
