Today was our field trip of downtown Thomasville . It was such a fun, fun day. I would first like to thank Anne Martin’s mom, Myra ’s mom, Josh’s mom and Kaytlyn’s mom for volunteering. Without them the trip would not have run as smoothly; as you can imagine 21 kindergarteners walking for 3 hours needed all the help possible! We started our day at the new courthouse, then went to the library and listened to 3 Christmas stories, then we walked to Thomasville National Bank, First Baptist Church, down Board St and back to quickly go through the taxidermist, Allgood printing, the Post Office- where we mailed home a Christmas letter (so be on the lookout the next day or two) and finally ended at the Big Oak. Along the way we ran into Maggie’s mother and Maggie and Hudson ’s grandmother, who work at First Baptist Church . We stopped by the tag office for Kaytlyn to grab a hug and kiss from her grandmother, who works there. And towards the end of the tour we got a special tour of Anne Martin’s dad’s printing store. We tried to follow a map of downtown but as we discovered it needed updating, maybe some of the great artists we have in our class can submit an updated one to the welcome office J

Our cool new shirts
We were the talk of the school when we all wore our new custom Hand in Hand shirts. These shirts were drawn by Anne Martin and donated by her father and his buisness, Allgood printing.
Friendship Salad
Tuesday, November 23rd we "created" a friendship salad. Then after lunch we gathered in the hallway with the other two kindergarten classes and feasted. While the actual salad wasn't that big of a hit (I think it was the coconut they didn't like) sitting with friends from the other classes and then drawing on the butcher paper was a lot of fun. We were thankful for this fun time together!
Food Drive
Thank you, thank you! While our class came in 5th for the number of cans collected, for the food drive, we had an impressive 141 cans! We participated in the "March of the Cans" where all the classes marched their cans to the front of the building. They were then collected and given to the food bank to help support our local needy families.

Veteran's Day Parade
Today was our first ever Veteran's Day Parade. It was so much fun and it really helped make what we have been learning about-the flag, the Star Spangled Banner, the pledge, and Veteran's Day-come to life for the children. The entire school marched around the middle school soccer field, accompanied by the high school marching band, over to the middle school side. There we were met by an audience of Veterans and the middle school chorus. We waved our flags we had made in class, sang and said the pledge, then marched back to our school.
Healthy Habits Day
Last Friday was our annual Healthy Habits day at Hand in Hand. All week long we learned about healthy foods and taking care of our bodies, and then on Friday we participated in lots of physical activities such as kids Zumba, jumping on bouncy houses, jogging/walking around the front circle, playing soccer with Thomas University soccer players and tasting different types of apples in the lunch room. It was a wonderful day!

Halloween/Fall Festival
Everyone looked so cute in their costumes. They enjoyed their morning rotating through each classroom on our hallway for our fall festival.
October Center Fun
Besides having a fire station inside our classroom, the students enjoyed the other areas of the room as well.
To the emergency!!
We were so fortunate that the Thomas Co. Fire Department let us borrow a REAL fire fighters uniform, helmet and boots, the students LOVED dressing up in all of it. We decided that fire fighters are some of the coolest community helpers we learned about!

Welcome Jaydin
Yesterday our class got a little bigger when Jaydin joined us.
We are glad he is part of our class now.
Community Helpers Fair
Yesterday we were fortunate to have Hudson's dad, Mike Rice, from Blue Bell, and several other community helpers come out to the school. Each class, on our wing, rotated around and we got to learn a little about what they do. We are a little bias, since he's Hudson's dad, but learning about Blue Bell was our favorite (plus we got to sample an ice cream sandwich).

more pumpkin fun
In addition to guessing the circumference of our pumpkins we put them in order from smallest to biggest. We also described their texture and observed their color. Who knew pumpkins could be so fun!
From pumpkin to jack-o-lantern
We had a great time comparing the weight of the pumpkin we carved to another large pumpkin. We used our sense to get information about it, from the outside, and then we carved it and got new information about the inside. We voted on the shape of the eyes and how many teeth it would have. The students loved scooping out the seeds, which we roasted and had for a snack. Thank you to everyone who sent in pumpkins and to Anne Martin, who let us carve her pumpkin.
